Frequently Asked Questions
About die-cutting processes, material selection, and processing capabilities
What is die-cutting? What materials can it process?
Die-cutting is a precision process that cuts tapes, foams, films, metal foils into specified shapes. Suitable for double-sided tape (3M/Tesa/Nitto), EVA/PU foam, PET/PC insulation sheets, thermal silicone, graphite sheets, copper/aluminum foil, protective film, security labels, waterproof mesh and more. LSIGHT offers 12 product series covering consumer electronics, EV, and medical industries.
Rotary vs. flatbed die-cutting — what's the difference?
Rotary die-cutting uses continuous rotating cylinders for high-speed, high-volume production (up to 60 m/min) with ±0.1mm precision — ideal for roll materials. Flatbed die-cutting uses vertical press action for sheet materials, small batches, and prototyping (10–30 min changeover). LSIGHT operates both 6 flatbed lines and 3 rotary lines for flexible production scheduling.
What tolerances can you achieve?
Standard: ±0.10mm; engraved die-cutting: ±0.05mm. Actual tolerance depends on material thickness, hardness, and resilience. LSIGHT's Class 1000 cleanroom ensures consistent ±0.10mm tolerance for standard products.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Standard: 1,000–5,000 pieces; simple structures: as low as 100–500; complex multi-layer: 5,000+. LSIGHT supports prototyping and trial orders. Contact us for specifics.
How long does prototyping take? Is there a charge?
Standard: 1–3 business days; simple: within 24 hours; complex multi-layer: 3–5 days. Prototyping costs based on material and tooling, typically refundable with production volume.
What types of electronic components can you process?
How do you quote? What information is needed?
Quotes require: material brand/model, product drawing (with tolerances), estimated quantity, and application. Response time: 2–4 hours. Get a quote →
What are slitting and multi-layer lamination?
Slitting cuts wide rolls into narrow strips. Multi-layer lamination bonds two or more materials (e.g., foam + tape + release liner) into integrated components. LSIGHT operates both precision slitters and multi-layer lamination lines.
